1UZ VVT-i Automatic Application Test Run Video (youtube.com)
The 2UZ-FE VVT-i engine is a highly durable and reliable platform, commonly found in Toyota and Lexus SUVs and trucks. Known for its torque-heavy design, this engine is an excellent choice for automatic transmission swaps. With the right wiring modifications and ECU programming, the 2UZ-FE can be seamlessly integrated into a variety of vehicles while maintaining full OEM functionality.
When modifying a 2UZ-FE VVT-i harness for automatic transmission applications, we ensure that the wiring is optimized and simplified:
✔ Unnecessary components, such as redundant secondary O2 sensor wiring, is removed.
✔ All essential connections for the automatic transmission, sensors, and dashboard signals are retained.
✔ The wiring is configured for seamless communication between the ECU and transmission control module (TCM).
We convert the engine harness into a standalone system, integrating a fuse box and relay system, which allows the engine to operate independently from the original vehicle’s wiring. This ensures:
✔ Clean, reliable wiring with a plug-and-play installation.
✔ Seamless integration into custom swaps and retrofits.
✔ Proper engine management, including fuel control, ignition timing, and automatic transmission shifting.
Every 2UZ-FE VVT-i harness undergoes a thorough inspection and refurbishment process:
✔ Damaged or aging connectors are replaced for long-term reliability.
✔ We use OEM-quality connectors for durability and proper fitment.
✔ Key connectors that may need replacement include:
✔ Ignition coil connectors
✔ Injector connectors
✔ Camshaft position sensor connectors
✔ Oil control valve (OCV) connectors
💡 Connector replacements are optional and priced separately, allowing customers to choose upgrades based on their harness condition.
We ensure the harness is fully compatible with automatic transmissions, retaining all necessary gear position signals:
✔ Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, 4, 3, 2, Low (for standard automatic transmissions)
✔ Shift Up & Shift Down signals (for 6-speed automatic transmissions, compatible with paddle shifters or lever shift setups)
🔹 An extension harness is included, which connects to:
✔ The electronic accelerator pedal
✔ The OBD2 port for diagnostics and tuning
The 2UZ-FE ECU comes with a factory immobilizer (IMMO), which must be removed or bypassed for swap applications. We offer:
💰 Immobilizer Removal Service: $140
✔ Ensures the ECU functions without the original key and security system
💰 ECU Remapping Service: $140
✔ Clears unnecessary trouble codes (DTCs)
✔ Optimizes fuel and ignition maps for improved performance and reliability
✔ Disables unnecessary systems such as EVAP and secondary O2 sensors
The completed 2UZ-FE harness is delivered with a client plug, making installation as simple as connecting a car radio.
✔ Essential engine wiring includes:
🔹 Ignition power
🔹 Starter signal
🔹 Fuel pump power
✔ Dashboard signal connections include:
🔹 Tachometer (rev counter)
🔹 Engine temperature sensor
🔹 Charge light
🔹 Oil pressure warning light
🔹 Check engine light
✔ Additional connections (if required):
🔹 Air conditioning compressor clutch signal
💰 Basic Wiring Modification: $690
✔ Includes harness reconfiguration and testing
✔ Does not include connector replacements
💰 Immobilizer Removal: $140
✔ Required for swap applications
💰 ECU Remapping: $140
✔ Includes performance tuning, DTC clearing, and feature deactivation
💰 Connector Replacement: Priced separately based on your specific harness condition (average cost: $6 per connector)
Once the harness modification is complete, you will receive:
✔ A fully rewired, tested, and labeled 2UZ-FE VVT-i harness
✔ A video demonstration of the harness in operation
✔ A shared folder containing:
🔹 Client plug Pin Description List
🔹 Installation notes
🔹 Invoice and shipping details
✔ High-Torque V8 Engine – Ideal for trucks, SUVs, and off-road builds
✔ OBD2 Diagnostic Compatibility – Simplifies troubleshooting and tuning
✔ Durable Coil-on-Plug Ignition System – More efficient and tunable than distributor-based systems
✔ Seamless Automatic Transmission Support – Compatible with Toyota’s A750E/A750F 5-speed and 6-speed automatic transmissions
All 2UZ-FE engines produced after 2007 are equipped with Variable Valve Timing, commonly known as VVTi. This intelligent system manages nearly all vital engine parameters: throttle position, coolant temperature, air volume, and more. Utilizing this data, it adjusts the intake camshaft timing to enhance engine performance and efficiency across low, mid, and high rpm ranges. Another notable feature is the plastic intake manifold with an adjustable intake port length, regulated by Toyota's Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS). This system operates with two intake port lengths: a longer one for low engine speeds and a shorter one for higher speeds.
Within the 2UZ-FE VVTi engine, newly designed lightweight pistons and oil jets are installed in the cylinder block for cooling. The compression ratio has been increased to 10.0:1 to optimize fuel combustion. By 2010, the 2UZ-FE VVTi had fully replaced the previous engine model. However, starting in 2008, the 4.7-liter engine began a gradual phase-out, being superseded by the newer 5.7-liter 3UR-FE and 4.6-liter 1UR-FE engines.
