Overview

The 12-pin 4-speed transmission client plug provides vehicle-side connections for shifter range information, overdrive control, overdrive indicator operation, and vehicle speed signal integration.

Correct range and speed wiring are required for normal shifting, torque converter lockup, diagnostic logic, and safe operation.

This guide covers the vehicle-side 12-pin 4-speed automatic transmission client plug for a Sequoia-based automatic transmission standalone system. The standalone harness is an engine and transmission control system, not a full chassis or body harness.

Detailed Circuit Notes

Range signals

  • Verify each range signal at the shifter before driving.
  • Do not bypass neutral safety unless a safe replacement circuit is installed.
  • Reverse lamps normally require a fused chassis-side circuit.

Overdrive

  • Confirm whether the overdrive switch is momentary or latching.
  • Confirm whether the ECU expects ground, +12V, or switched signal.
  • Do not power the O/D OFF light from the switch input unless designed for it.

Vehicle speed

  • Confirm speed source, pulse rate, and signal type.
  • Missing speed signal can cause no lockup, shift complaints, or DTCs.
