Lexus V8 Engines LLC offers brand new premium standalone wiring harness builds for selected Toyota/Lexus V8 engine conversions.
These harnesses are built from scratch using new wiring, new terminals, new seals, new connectors where required, new sheathing, new tubing, new branch routing, and a clean layout designed specifically for engine swap use.
At this time, our brand new premium harness builds are offered for manual transmission applications only.

We do not build these premium new harnesses for automatic transmission control at this time. Automatic applications are normally handled through our OEM harness rebuild and reconfiguration service, because the factory automatic transmission wiring, gear position circuits, park/neutral logic, shift wiring, transfer case wiring, and ECU strategy are usually better retained and reworked from the original harness.
What Is a Brand New Premium Harness?
A brand new premium harness is not a repaired used harness. It is not an old OEM harness that has been cleaned up and rewrapped.
It is a harness built new for the customer's application.
The goal is to create a clean, strong, professional wiring system that is easy to install, easy to service, and far better suited to a swap than an old brittle factory harness.
These harnesses are built to run the engine using the factory Toyota/Lexus ECU, but in a standalone-style configuration. The original Toyota/Lexus engine management is retained, but the wiring is simplified and arranged for the recipient vehicle.
We do not work with aftermarket ECUs. These systems are based around the OEM Toyota/Lexus ECU and are programmed or configured where possible to suit the customer's manual swap.
Manual Transmission Applications Only
Our premium new harness builds are currently designed for manual transmission applications.
The manual transmission is mechanically separate from the Toyota/Lexus ECU. The ECU runs the engine only.

Because the ECU is not controlling the manual gearbox, the wiring is much cleaner and simpler than an automatic application.
- Typical manual transmission-related wiring can include:
- Start signal
- Starter relay control where required
- Reverse light wiring
- Neutral switch wiring where required
- Clutch switch wiring if required
- Tach output
- OBD2 diagnostics
- Fuel pump control
- Check engine light
Not every build needs every circuit. The final layout depends on the engine, ECU, vehicle, and customer requirements.
Left-Hand Drive and Right-Hand Drive Builds
We can build premium harnesses for both left-hand drive and right-hand drive applications.
This is important because ECU location, firewall routing, pedal location, fuse/relay position, and vehicle-side wiring access can vary depending on the chassis.
When the client form is completed, the customer must clearly state whether the vehicle is left-hand drive or right-hand drive. This allows us to route the harness correctly and build the engine-side and cabin-side sections in a way that suits the vehicle.
The goal is not just to make the engine run. The goal is to make the harness install neatly and make sense in the vehicle it is going into.
Cabin-Mounted ECU Advantage
One of the biggest advantages of a brand new premium harness is the ability to mount the ECU inside the cab of the vehicle.
This is especially useful on 3UZ swaps.
Many original 3UZ Lexus applications had the ECU mounted in the engine bay. That worked in the factory Lexus chassis because the vehicle was designed around it. In a swap, however, keeping the ECU in the engine bay is not always the cleanest or best option.
With a brand new premium harness, we can build the harness so the ECU is mounted inside the vehicle.
- This has several advantages:
- The ECU is protected from engine bay heat
- The ECU is protected from moisture and dirt
- The engine bay looks cleaner
- The wiring can be routed more professionally
- The ECU is easier to access for diagnostics or service
- The harness can be built around the recipient vehicle instead of the donor vehicle
- The installation looks more intentional and less like a modified factory harness
For swaps into Toyota pickups, Hilux, 4Runners, Land Cruisers, drift cars, classic cars, and custom vehicles, this is often the cleanest layout.
New Components Throughout
A premium harness build uses new components throughout the build wherever required.

- New automotive-grade wiring
- New terminals
- New seals
- New connector housings where required
- New relay and fuse wiring
- New OBD2 diagnostic port wiring
- New pedal wiring where applicable
- New client plug wiring
- New sheathing and woven tubing
- New branch protection
- New labels and documentation
The point of the premium harness is to eliminate the problems that come with old donor harnesses.
Old OEM harnesses can suffer from brittle insulation, oil contamination, heat damage, cracked connectors, corroded terminals, broken locking tabs, poor previous repairs, or cut wiring.
A new premium harness removes that uncertainty.
Harness Layout and Finish
The harness is designed to fit the engine and installation properly.
The branches are routed cleanly, protected correctly, and shaped to suit the engine. Where needed, the harness can be built with structure so it does not flop around the engine bay or rub against brackets, pulleys, manifolds, or sharp edges.
A premium harness should feel like a proper part of the engine package.
It should not look like a universal bundle of wires. It should not rely on the installer trying to figure out where everything goes. It should route cleanly, plug into the engine correctly, and provide clearly labeled vehicle-side connections.
Typical Vehicle-Side Connections
The vehicle-side wiring is kept as simple as possible.

The exact connections depend on the engine, ECU, and vehicle.
The system is not a universal plug-and-play chassis harness. The installer must still connect the labeled wires into the recipient vehicle correctly. However, the goal is to make those connections straightforward and clearly documented.
ECU Programming and Setup
Where supported, ECU programming is included as part of the premium harness build.
- Depending on the engine platform and ECU, this may include:
- Immobilizer removal
- Manual transmission setup
- Automatic transmission code removal
- Rear O2 / catalyst monitoring removal where applicable
- EVAP-related code removal where applicable
- Secondary air injection code removal where applicable
- Performance / throttle response tune where applicable
- Calibration setup to suit the swap
The level of programming available depends on the ECU platform.
Some ECUs are much more flexible than others. The 3UZ and many 2UZ ECUs offer very good programming options. The 1UZ VVTi ECU is more limited and must be understood before choosing that platform.
1UZ-FE VVTi Premium Manual Harness
The 1UZ-FE VVTi is a strong, smooth, and reliable engine. It works well in many swaps and can be run using the factory Toyota/Lexus ECU.
A brand new premium 1UZ VVTi harness can be built for manual transmission applications.

- Good option for customers who already have a 1UZ VVTi setup
- Clean new harness avoids brittle old wiring issues
- Can be built for left-hand drive or right-hand drive applications
Cons
- The 1UZ VVTi ECU is not programmable in the same way as later 2UZ and 3UZ ECUs
- Manual transmission-related ECU changes are limited
- Automatic transmission codes may not be removable in the same way as later platforms
- Performance tuning options are limited compared with 2UZ/3UZ
- The customer must understand the ECU limitations before choosing this platform
Important 1UZ VVTi Note
The 1UZ VVTi can be wired to run properly in a manual application, but it is not as flexible as the later 2UZ and 3UZ platforms from an ECU programming standpoint.
The harness can be built cleanly and correctly, but the ECU itself has limitations.
We do not offer premium new harness builds for early non-VVTi 1UZ applications.
2UZ-FE Non-VVTi Premium Manual Harness
The non-VVTi 2UZ is one of the best choices for truck and 4×4 swaps.
It has excellent torque, strong reliability, and suits heavier vehicles such as Hilux, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and off-road builds.
A premium new 2UZ non-VVTi harness can be built for manual transmission applications.
2UZ Non-VVTi Variants
There are different non-VVTi 2UZ electronic throttle systems.
Some early systems are throttle-by-wire but still have a physical cable going to the throttle body. The accelerator position sensor is built into the throttle body assembly.
Later non-VVTi systems use an electronic accelerator pedal where the pedal contains the accelerator position sensor.
The throttle body, ECU, and accelerator/pedal strategy must match.

- Clean new harness avoids old donor harness problems
- Can be built for left-hand drive or right-hand drive vehicles

- Good ECU solutions are available when the correct ECU is used
Cons
- Several ECU and throttle versions exist
- Early Land Cruiser and first-generation Tundra ECUs can have programming limitations
- Throttle body, ECU, and pedal strategy must be matched correctly
- Some systems may require an ECU change to give the best programmable setup
ECU Strategy
If the customer has an ECU that is not ideal or not programmable for the required manual application, we can supply a better-suited ECU where possible.
The goal is not to get stuck on a specific donor ECU. The goal is to deliver a complete working system.
2UZ-FE VVTi Premium Manual Harness
The 2UZ VVTi is an excellent option for later truck and 4×4 swaps.
It offers strong torque, improved engine control, and good drivability. It is commonly used in Land Cruiser, LX470, GX470, Tundra, Sequoia, Tacoma, Hilux, and 4Runner-style builds.
A premium new 2UZ VVTi harness can be built for manual transmission applications.

- More complex than non-VVTi systems
- Electronic throttle and accelerator pedal must be matched correctly
- Secondary air injection may need to be addressed depending on ECU and application
- Rear O2, EVAP, catalyst monitoring, and other unused systems may need ECU programming

3UZ-FE Premium Manual Harness
The 3UZ-FE is one of the most popular engines for premium new harness builds.
It is compact, smooth, all-aluminum, responsive, and works very well in manual transmission applications. It is commonly used in Toyota pickups, 4Runners, Hilux, Altezzas, drift cars, classic vehicles, Mercedes swaps, and custom builds.
A premium new 3UZ harness is often the cleanest way to install this engine because the harness can be designed around the swap rather than the original Lexus chassis.

ECU Programming
- 3UZ ECU programming can normally include:
- Immobilizer removal
- Manual transmission setup

- Rear O2 / catalyst monitoring removal
- EVAP-related code removal where applicable

Accelerator Pedal Wiring
Many of these engines use electronic throttle control.
Where required, the premium harness can include the accelerator pedal wiring as a plug-in extension. This allows the pedal to be mounted in the cab without the installer cutting into the engine harness.
The pedal, throttle body, and ECU must match the same system.
This is especially important on 2UZ and 3UZ applications.
OBD2 Diagnostics
The premium harness includes OBD2 diagnostic wiring.
This allows the customer to scan the ECU for live data and diagnostic trouble codes after installation.
- OBD2 access is important for:
- Initial startup
- Checking sensor data
- Confirming coolant temperature
- Checking throttle and pedal data
- Reading DTCs
- Clearing codes
- Diagnosing future problems
A proper swap should retain diagnostic access.
Fuel Pump Control
The harness can provide fuel pump control through an FC output or relay-control strategy depending on the build.
The fuel pump should be wired safely through a proper relay or through the vehicle's factory fuel pump circuit where applicable.
The ECU/harness should control the relay. The ECU should not carry the full pump load directly.
A/C and Fan Control
A/C request wiring can be included where required.
Fan control depends on the vehicle and fan setup. The factory Toyota/Lexus ECU does not always provide a simple universal fan relay output like an aftermarket ECU.
For most swaps, we recommend a proper relay-controlled electric fan setup using a temperature switch, adjustable fan controller, or dedicated fan control circuit depending on the build.
If A/C is retained, the fan system can also be configured so the fans come on with A/C request if required.
Cruise Control
Cruise control can be included on some premium manual harness builds where the ECU and application support it.

- Cruise switch / lever input
- Brake switch inputs
- Cruise indicator light where applicable
- Required client plug wiring
Cruise control requirements vary by ECU and build configuration.
What Customers Need to Provide
- For a premium new harness build, the customer normally needs to provide:
- Completed client form
- ECU, unless we are supplying one
- Clear build details
- Transmission type
- Vehicle details
- Left-hand drive or right-hand drive confirmation
Required options such as A/C, fan control, cruise, reverse lights, etc.
If we are supplying the ECU, the customer does not need to send one.
We prefer to supply the ECU when possible because it allows us to build and test the complete system as a matched package.
Testing Before Shipping
Whenever possible, premium harness systems are test-run before shipping.
This allows us to verify the harness, ECU, throttle system, pedal, OBD2 communication, and basic engine operation before the system leaves the workshop.
We provide a test-run video so the customer can see the system operating.
This is one of the biggest advantages of ordering a complete matched system.
Premium Harness vs OEM Rebuild Harness
Premium New Harness
- Best when:
- The customer wants the cleanest possible result
- The original harness is missing or damaged
- The customer wants new components throughout
- The ECU should be mounted inside the cab
- The engine bay layout needs to be cleaner
- The build is a manual swap
- The customer wants the most professional finished harness package
OEM Rebuild Harness
- Best when:
- The customer already has a complete original harness
- The customer wants to retain more of the factory layout
- The project is an automatic application
- The harness is complete but old or damaged
- The customer wants the OEM harness rebuilt and reconfigured
Both options can work very well. The best choice depends on the engine, transmission, vehicle, harness condition, and customer goals.
